The Front Suspension

|
Now that I've gotten as far as I can financially it's time to get back onto the performance upgrades that I originally planned on. I got new springs from RaceTech and am switching the oil to a 15W/20W mixure (somewhere around 17W). I also bought a Hex Socket Set off of Ebay just for this job. I stuck the front wheel over there on the left on two pieces of wood to protect the rotors.

These were a lot easier to take apart than I thought they would be. I was warned that the springs would be storing a little energy and to be careful while removing the caps. Needless to say they both got a "little air". Each one landed about 6 feet from where I was working. But other than that they were pretty easy to work with.

I studied a tutorial on SVRider for weeks (which is sad) that was written by a member who fully documented the procedure (with picts). I advise people to research before doing a large job like this as well. Just messing with your suspension is one thing. Removing and deconstructing it all together is another. Instructions told me to let the forks drain for a couple hours, but I decided to leave them hanging all night. I had plans anyway. They were completely drained the next morning and easy to work with.
