Alley Gate

Alley Gate 1 This is the first step towards replacing the entire old rotted fence in the backyard. I went out one day and bought the supplies I needed from Lowes (believe it or not Home Depot refused to cut the pipe I needed. Lowes went out of their way to do it in the plumbing section of the store).

I used short Tapcons and Brace Bands to mount the poles directly to the garage and the house. I wasn't sure whether or not this method would hold (especially since the Tapcon anchors were so short, but they came with the house), but so far it's held up without the slightest sign of weakening this entire winter.

Here's the finished product.

I used a 4'x4' gate which was actually a little too large but the 3'x4' was way too small to work with. I solved the problem by "off-setting" the poles slightly and angling the hinges. Unfortunetly this means that the gate can only be opened one way.

I also had to rearrange the small alley lights next to the garage. No biggie there.
