Written: My 2nd (and last) semester in college.
Rex looked out over the parking lot. Target was just leaving the school (Rex didn't like to read the names of the people he was hired to hit, just their habits and hangouts. In fact he hated these jobs and only accepted them when no others were available). She walked past the community center and into the night towards the parking lot.
Rex looked around the empty parking lot and started towards the area where the target had left her car.
There were other cars around hers, that was good. It gave him cover. He sat down in front of the car to Target's passenger side and waited patiently.
Rex wished that she'd hurry... He was getting tired of holding this timer and plastic in his mouth.
Target finally reached her car. Rex could hear her searching for her keys.
He got up and quickly made his way around the car that was his hiding place, being sure to keep his claws retracted so as to not alert anyone, and crept up behind Target's car.
Rex heard the car door open. Target wasn't on to him... That was good.
The door slammed shut. Soon after the engine started.
Now Rex had to act fast. He reached under the back end of the car and gently placed the bomb on the gas tank.
It stuck, clicking lightly against the metal. Target wouldn't notice with the engine running.
Rex gently pressed the start button on the timer with his nose and ran back to his hiding space at the adjacent car. She now had 30 seconds left on her clock.
Rex had a feeling that he didn't want to be around that specific car for the next couple of minutes.
Target slowly backed her car out of the spot and began to drive toward the main road.
Good... Rex would hate to see another's property get destroyed during a job.
He sat down behind the car that concealed him so he could see the upcoming fireworks.
Unfortunately he wouldn't. The car made it out of the lot safely and over the hill towards the nearest neighborhood before the timer hit zero.
All he got to experience was a loud boom and a bright flash of light over the crest of the hill.
Rex never knew who he was hired to kill that night. He guessed she was a staff member or teacher.
He guessed someone must have really hated her.
